Creativity thrives on experimentation. And artists thrive on constant exploration to nourish their creativity. asrequired was started to inspire creatives to play, fail, learn, and always keep going.

asrequired is James Cabrera’s design studio to share experimental work. While today’s society often discourages publishing work unless it’s “perfect,” James embraces and publishes imperfect, incomplete, in-progress work. The value gained is what he learns, the skills he builds, and the motivation to just keep making things.

James hopes that this space will encourage others to share their own “imperfect” work that may never “be complete,” in order to prioritize the creative process. He believes that fighting perfectionism with exploration will help artists learn new things more quickly, discover their style, or find what they are truly interested in.
